Actually, there is mention of radio-related kits. Ernie Wake, the Director
of Sales/Marketing, has been asking for input on a qrz.com forum.
I hope we will learn from our mistakes in the 70's and 80's, when we were
not enamored with the products coming out of Heath (thanks mostly to Zenith)
and stopped buying them, turning instead to the Japanese models, thus
contributing to Heath's withdrawal from the kit business. We need to help
Heathkit regain its momentum. I say, buy their new products even if we don't
really need them! They are trying a risky thing - getting back into a
business that they abandoned 20 years ago, and we need to reward them for
taking the risk! You can bet they will start slowly so as not to try to do
too much too soon, so let's be sure to get the little stuff so they'll get
the message that it's OK to make the big stuff.
I solicited this list's opinions about a new Heathkit 10 years ago, and
everyone said to go for it, but that the old Heathkit would never return.
Well, I went for it and DZKit was born. Now we all have the potential to
help bring back Heathkit. Let's not blow it this time.
Also remember that the Chinese are now starting to get into the game, and
you can bet it will be a repeat of the Japanese story of the 70's unless we
wake up and buy American, even at the higher prices.

Haven't seen any distribution from the reflector here since 11 August, so
maybe this will start up some conversations:

No mention of radio kits, though. Perhaps there are no radio frequency
engineers who want to live in Michigan.
