Yesterday, although not feeling up to par due to a virus, I cleaned all the components off the 
4-pin sockets. 

What a mess! :-(

The Amphenol snap-ring sockets had been repeatedly gotten so hot that they lost all their 
temper and would no longer properly grip the tube pins.

I am going to replace them with ceramic sockets.

In addition, the 6-terminal phenolic terminal strip had been "carbonized" in spots by repeated 
attempts at soldering to it, and that will have to be replaced.

More fun later. :-)
