Many of the Heathkit manuals that were removed from BAMA are now available on Ebaman.com which is based in Europe.  New ones are showing up all the time.  The site requires registration and is free.

>Not at all!  The manual copyrights were sold to a 3rd party who has no connections at all with the company.  Since the copyrights were transferred, the company has no control on them in any fashion.  It doesn't matter if Heathkit is still in business or not.  Also, even if Heathkit still owned the copyrights, going out of business definitely does not release them into public domain.
