Unfortunately, most of the time, when the core gets stuck, it is cracked and has to be completely removed and replaced with a new core. You can use a "pick", or something really sharp but narrow, to gradually "flake" the material to the center so that it falls out.
Often, the crack in the core is very difficult to see, but it is there.

Subject: [Heath] SB receivers and in general ferrite coils
Does anyone here knows how to loosen up the ferrite
core in the antenna/plate/oscillator coils of these receivers, fortunately I
have only one that is stuck, have the right tool but it wont budge, is the 3.5
antenna coil and by the performance of this receiver it need adjusting like all
the others. So far I have used heat (wife hair drier) and cold with a medical
freezing spray can to no avail, is there some kind of penetrating lubricant that
could be used without making it worst ????? Any help would
appreciated.
