[Heath] Tutor Wanted

Always check the power supply first! Put a light bulb in series with the AC and use about a 40-60 watt bulb then very little damage can be done if there is a short. Bulb should light fairly bright first time on and then drop in intensity as the capacitors charge.

Doug,

I recall the Shawnee has an internal power supply, if I were U I'd begin there.  Your first check should be the health of your electrolytics, especially if the rig hasn't been on in years.  If they are bad (shorted),  you could lose your pwr xfmr, a very expensive repair.   There's a gadget called an equivalent resistance meter that checks this, there are instructions around the internet for reforming old caps.  Then, if they're OK, measure the output of the B+, and take it from there.  But PLEASE, do not turn the unit on until all this checks out.  Best of luck.
