[Heath] Fixing cracks in SB dials

Hi, guys,

I just read about a trick which could have a good use for cracks in SB
dials. There are many out there cracked in at least one place.

Baking soda when mixed with water-thin cyano glue turns into something as
hard as a rock. Take a little bit of baking soda on a piece of cardboard
and put a few drops of cyano onto it. When it dries, you can hit it with a
hammer and not break it!

So, what you could do is take your cracked dial (the outer part where the
numbers are) and gently sprinkle some baking soda into the crack(s). Then,
carefully (maybe using a pipette like in a little precision oiler?) run a
drop or two of the water-thin cyano glue onto the baking soda in the crack.
Let it dry and then paint it over with some thin hobby flat black paint
like Testors (get that at any Michael's or hobby store) and you have one
solid repair.

You could just run the cyano glue into the crack(s), but adding the baking
soda creates a rock-hard fix.
