Hi Everyone

Any thin solvent or lubricant should eventually wick into the gap between
the two concentric shafts but the more volatile the liquid the quicker it
will evaporate so a sealed container might be required.

How about removing the tuning capacitor from the receiver and putting it
shaft downwards into a suitable sized clean jam jar with a small amount of
paraffin in the bottom and leaving it to soak for a while with a lid on the
jar?

A more volatile alternative to paraffin would be white spirit (household
paint thinner) which I use as a degreasing agent when cleaning panels prior
to priming and painting.
