You folks might wish to keep in mind that at this late date, many of those 
crystals in our favorite rigs have drifted, sometimes quite far.

I carefully check every crystal in those rigs I "operate" on for frequency and 
tolerance. Sometimes, one can pull them back onto frequency by the 
judicious addition of external components, but sometimes nothing can be 
done with them and they must simply be discarded.

The crystals in the carrier oscillators are especially important to be on 
frequency. The heterodyne oscillator crystals are somewhat less important, 
although if they are all exactly on frequency, one will not have to adjust the 
fiducial very much when moving from band to band.
