Hello,

The LCD display on my IM-2215 meter is deteriorating and I'm trying
to find a replacement. It's Heathkit part #411-843, and
cross-references to:
Beckman 739-02050
Hamlin 3933-363-159
AND DISPLAYS FE0203

Can't find any of those, but Newark lists these 2:
FE0203W-EU
FE0203W-DU
at very slightly different prices, with only the -DU in stock.

Does anyone know if these can be directly substituted for the
original Heathkit #411-843 LCD?
From the online information I don't see what the differences are, if
any, or if they can be substituted.
And, can anyone suggest sources?

Thanks.

>>>>> The DU suffix is a reflective LCD, while the EU suffix is the transflective LCD.

Other than that, those two FE0203W's should be electrically equivalent.

Newark, Allied, Farnell and Element14 all carry the DU reflective; none carry the EU transflective.

All but E14 are about $6ea. If your original LCD had no backlighting, then the DU should be fine.

The transflective is only used where there is backlighting to shine THROUGH the LCD.

If it is just edge lit, or no light at all, then it is the DU reflective.

>From looking at pictures online, it sure does not look like the IM-2215 has a backlit display.
