Doug...Congrats!  You can get the parts from Mouser Electronics..They have 
anything you want at 
good prices and $5 shipping..The 10 watt resistor won't hurt anything...It's 
not a matter of "head room" 
it just has to be able to dissipate at least 7 watts...But I would get the 
correct parts and
