Tune up in CW. Use a low-level carrier, NOT 100 watts. Try 25 watts to begin with. Possibly 
you may use up to 33 watts drive....maybe.

Adjust for no more than 100 watts output from the amp into a dummy load or your antenna!!! 

Then, modulate. 

PEP may be up to about 400 watts. (33% of 1200 watts PEP)

DO NOT attempt to get 1200 watts PEP out of an SB-200 in AM mode. It will burn up due to 
the constant "carrier".

As someone mentioned, most linear amps, and not only HKs, are NOT designed to output a 
steady signal at the 600 or 1200 watt level.!!!
