That's right. There's sort of a rotary switch built into the probe.
Rotate it one way, it's a direct connection. Rotate it the other way,
it's got the 1M resistor in series. I can't tell you how many V7-A's
I've seen on eBay, that are working VTVMs but without the test leads.
Without that special probe, the VTVM is pretty much worthless.
As Dave says, you can buy a new probe kit from the link he gave. I
bought one, and it's a very nice kit.
