Heath IM-18 VTVM

I thought I would never see another one like
this.

The IM-18 is basically the standard Vacuum Tube
Volt Meter that many of us used years and years
ago.  There are still many times that an analog
meter is better than a digital.

This one came from a silent key, and is in better
shape than I ever thought possible today.
First, it works fine.  All functions on it work
as they should.  Even the pilot light works!

When I opened it up, I expected to find a
bunch of white powder from corrosion and
leakage of the battery.  Not so!  The contacts
were all shiny and clean, and basically
look like new.

The original probe is with it.  That is somewhat
unusual, but even more unexpected is the fact
that the cable is flexible, like it should be,
instead of hard and cracked.

It would appear that the back and sides of
the case (not the front) have been repainted.
The color is an extremely good match to the
original, or at least it seems to be the same
as my other Heath brown.

I already have an Eico 249 VTVM with the large
meter, so I do not need another.  Would someone
like this one for $50?

Compactron Vacuum Tubes For Sale:

I found a couple 6D10 compactron tubes, which
are very close to "unobtanium" these days.
They have been tested, and test great.

Heath equipment, as well as other ham gear.

12AX7 Dual Triode Vacuum Tubes

12AX7 tubes are getting to be fairly scarce.
These are dual triodes, often used in audio
applications. I have found three.

The first is a very premium 12AX7.
It is a Telefunken with flat plates.
It tests 150/150% on a Hickcock 600 tube tester.
Tubes and More sells these for almost $300,
which is ridiculous.
Buy this one for only $75.

The second is an RCA with ribbed plates.
It also tests 150/150%.
Tubes and More sells these for only $170.
Buy this one for only $50.

The last is a KenRad with ribbed plates.
It tests at 125/125%.
Buy it for only $40.

Buy all three for $155.

3BP1 CRT
This CRT is used in many pieces of electronic
equipment using 3 inch CRTs. This one is
NOS, still in its original box. Only $30.

Heath HD-15 Phone Patches:

This is the unit with the VU meter on
the left and 3 knobs that match the
SB series to the middle and right. Low
or high Z output to the transmitter.
It can also be used as an interface to
the computer for PSK31, etc.

This one is in extremely good condition.
No scratches or imperfections.

Paper work included for $25.

HD-15 phone patch

As above, but no top cover, and no meter (actually
the meter is there, but it is no good).  Internal
parts are present.  These parts are useful to build
an interface for digital modes. $15

Resistors for high voltage metering:

Do you have a linear amplifier that has an
error in the high voltage reading? Maybe you do
not even know it has an error!

Heath used three 4.7 meg resistors in the SB-220/221
and also in the SB-200/201 amplifiers. Almost all
of these resistors are out of tolerance today, partially
because of their age, but also because their voltage
rating was exceeded.

I was able to obtain a quantity of new resistors that
are 4.7 Meg, 1% tolerance, 2 watt, and are rated to
handle the high voltage. This compares to the original
resistors furnished by Heath that were 4.7 Meg, 5%,
1 watt and about 400 volts.

Note that these can be used in any amp that uses the
4.7 Meg resistors -- not just Heath amps.
