[From nobody Mon Jan 10 18:47:45 2011 From: Randy Kaeding <randyk@PARRETT.NET> To: "HEATH@listserv.tempe.gov" <HEATH@listserv.tempe.gov> Subject: WHAT IS GR-1009 Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 16:16:51 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit For those who have asked, here is a description of the GR-1009: It is a small AM portable radio that is powered by a 9-volt battery. It has an earphone jack and external power jack. I believe it originally came out in the mid 80s. It is a true Heathkit in all respects (not something packet by Prokit in Taiwan, like the more recent kits were). Its manual was written by experienced Heathkit manual writers. Now for those of you who are critical of everything the company does, this is not a redesign or an old product brought back to life. The company has been selling it all along through our educational reps (educational courses is what the company does now, and quite well thank you) as a starter kit. If you don't want one, don't buy one! I only intended to let those of you know that there are a number of them available if you do.
