Here! I'm with you, Gary. BTW, did you know that when using RG-58 size coax with an SO-239, you actually place an IMPEDENCE BUMP in your coax line? Tis true, Laddies; the size of the connector affects the impedence. When a small connector is used with small cable, impedence matches fairly well. But, using a LARGE connector with small coax actually makes the line appear to have a "bump". The above reason is one of two that caused Heath to use the RCA connectors. The other: Seems that Heath recognized that most of us hams use RG-58 for interconnects between rig, amp, peripherials and such; therefore the smaller connector was more useful. And it's lots cheaper, er, that is ECONOMICAL, to use a phono than a PL-259. That's my $.05 worth; partly from the mouths of them what designed the beasties.
