<DIV><FONT size=4>Does the amp work properly on other bands besides 40 meters 

?   If so, I'd suspect a problem in one of the components in the 40 

meter tuned input circuitry (including possibly a bad contact on its associated 

bandswitch section).   The tuning of the 40 meter coil in the tuned 

input is probably NOT the problem, as this circuitry is very low "Q", and the 

SWR being so high is probably due to a bad component or bad connection 

somewhere.</FONT></DIV>
