I think you only need the xtal set for the 401 if you're NOT using
it with a matching receiver...i.e. and SB-300,301 or 303...I think
you can even use the 401 as a "separate" on a different frequency
when using one of these receivers and it will still work...<br>

forgive me if I’m being obvious but a “crystal pack” for an
SB-401 can be obtained from any Heath transceiver. I’ve been
buying up HW-101’s for parts, such as the crystal sets, as
the crystals do at times fail and HW-101 parts rigs are
fairly plentiful and cheap. Chuck Penson in his Heathkit
book, estimates that Heath made nearly 30, 000 HW-101 kits!
Also, all SB-400’s came with the full set of crystals so if
you can find an SB-400 parts rig, your good to go. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
