I feel much the same way about our vendor (which is not Minerva).

I've asked for features years ago that would allow us to add our own
services to the customer interface, but those features had been seen as
secondary to more pressing features. I feel like we're moving at a snails
pace towards what I would like to see us offer customers, rather than what
the middleware vendor anticipates.

I wish someone would develop a strong STB toolkit, rather than a "polished"
customer interface. I'm much more intrigued by a DIY environment, like I'm
used to in open source, than a product on a platter like we have today.
