show log messages

up down information is in the main syslog

run show log messages | grep LINK
Jan  5 10:04:42  host mib2d[3435]: SNMP_TRAP_LINK_DOWN: ifIndex 60, 
ifAdminStatus down(2), ifOperStatus down(2), ifName so-1/2/2.0
Jan  5 10:04:42  host mib2d[3435]: SNMP_TRAP_LINK_DOWN: ifIndex 50, 
ifAdminStatus down(2), ifOperStatus down(2), ifName t3-0/1/0.0
Jan  5 10:04:42  host mib2d[3435]: SNMP_TRAP_LINK_DOWN: ifIndex 105, 
ifAdminStatus down(2), ifOperStatus down(2), ifName t3-0/1/0.1

There are extensive hardware entries in the chassisd log also:
