Hi:

I will to do a Sw upgrade from JUNOS 5.1 to 6.3 at M160 Router and I want to know how reduce the out-of-service time between RE switching.

The way that I will do the Junos upgrade follows:
1.- Verify RE 0 & 1 redundancy configuration and synchronize the RE 0 & 1.
2.- Using "jinstall-6.3R1.3-export-signed" package, upgrade RE 1 (backup) and reboot it (no traffic affectation, its OK?).
3.- Verify that RE 1(with Junos 6.3) configuration is sync to RE 0 (with Junos 5.1).
4.- Configure RE1 as master and RE0 as backup (at both RE).
5. Switch Master routing engine (RE0 --> RE1). How long takes it??
6.- Verify proper operation after to switch to RE1.
7.- Upgrade RE 0 and reboot it.

I need your assistance in order to know if the steps 4 and 5 are the best way to switch between RE with differents Junos versions, or they is another better way.

Thanks for your help.
//Javier
