The RE-2.0 (which his system is not) uses 3x256MB PC100 ECC low density / 
low profile dimms. They will accept up to 512MB per slot if you have some 
server ram sitting around, but the BIOS will not recognize more than 768MB 
total, and will ignore dimms above this (if you have 1x512 1x256mb it will 
do 768mb, but if you have 2x512mb is will only see 512mb total).

Since he's talking about 512mb/2048mb he's talking about the RE 3.0, to 
which I have no idea. It is a p3 600 so it probably isn't too far off, 
maybe pc 133?
