Partitioning is done automatically when installing software
from the removable media. There is no other supported way
to partition or repartition the hard drive.
You will need a media install (ie, PCMCIA or LS-120) kit to
succeed.

Subject: [j-nsp] replacing HD on M40
Hello,
I have a used Juniper M40 w/ RE-233.
It boots JUNOS 4.4R1.5 and I am attempting to upgrade to
6.2R2.4.
While the system boots, the hard disk has bad sectors and I wish to
replace it. I have jinstall bundles to install a new OS.
The kernel reports the new disk:
wdc1 at 0x170-0x177 irq 15 on isa
wdc1: unit 0 (wd2): <WDC WD100EB-00BHF0>
wd2: 8063MB (16514064 sectors), 16383 cyls, 16 heads, 63 S/T, 512
But I am stuck trying to apply a disklabel. I think once
I can partition it, copy the jinstall bundle to /var, I can
re-install the software.
disklabel -e -r /dev/wd2
(vi, edit partitions, :wq)
ioctl DIOCWLABEL: Operation not supported by device
Any ideas how I can repartition this drive?
Thanks
Zetan
