[j-nsp] Juniper NTP Sync

Not sure if it is your issue here or not, but NTP won't sync if the time is too far apart between your router and the NTP server. The workaround is to set the time manually to approximately what it should be, then set it to use NTP.

Subject: [j-nsp] Juniper NTP Sync

For some weird reason, my Juniper won't sync NTP to the box that I've
set up as my NTP server (though you can manually set the date via NTP,
and my Cisco sync's fine).

Juniper:

 > show ntp status
status=c011 sync_alarm, sync_unspec, 1 event, event_restart,
processor="i386", system="JUNOS7.0R2.7", leap=11, stratum=16,
precision=-29, rootdelay=0.000, rootdispersion=1323.120, peer=0,
refid=0.0.0.0, reftime=00000000.00000000  Thu, Feb  7 2036  0:28:16.000,
poll=6, clock=c5c73263.edaf294d  Wed, Feb 23 2005 10:48:35.928, state=1,
phase=0.000, frequency=118.400, jitter=0.000, stability=0.000

 > set date ntp x.x.x.x
23 Feb 10:48:55 ntpdate[72565]: step time server x.x.x.x offset
-3.802509 sec

Cisco:

#sh ntp st
Clock is synchronized, stratum 3, reference is x.x.x.x
nominal freq is 250.0000 Hz, actual freq is 249.9950 Hz, precision is 2**24
reference time is C5C7329A.D8594B47 (10:49:30.845 CST Wed Feb 23 2005)
clock offset is 9.7883 msec, root delay is 0.50 msec
root dispersion is 18.69 msec, peer dispersion is 8.91 msec

Same NTP server works fine on the Cisco. Ideas?
