Hi Tao, 

Normal discards: Number of packets discarded due to discard route i.e
next-hop set to discard. I think this counter also includes packets
dropped due to a firewall filter or as a result of policing action. 

Extended discards: Number of packets discarded due to an illegal next
hop.
