Not sure if it is a bug or not, but setting fixed on one side and auto on the other is never a good idea. I know it is convenient, but more often than not, you'll find that it causes more problems than it solves, unfortunately.

Good luck,
-Jeff

Subject: [j-nsp] Junos upgrade 7.0R2.7->7.3R2.9 on M5 and a problem with
auto negotiation on 12xFE pic

Hi,

I just tried to upgrade Junos on M5 from 7.0R2.7 to 7.3R2.9 and
encountered a problem. We have some devices connected to 12xFE pic which
only can do 10M half-duplex. With any Junos up to 7.0 we hadn't had any
problems with them and M5 always auto-negotiated half-dulex and 10M. Now,
after upgrading to 7.3R2.9, phisical links with these devices stay down
unless I explicitly set the interfaces on M5 to 10M and half-duplex. I
haven't found anything about it in Release Notes.
Has anyone encountered it? Is it a bug? Below is our hardware
configuration.

Thanks
Dmitri
