I just found out that the customer is using the loopback IP as the BGP  
source on the router that is facing us. My understanding is that for eBGP,  
you need to peer with the router's external interface rather than its  
loopback unless it's multihop.

Could it be that the problem is caused by improper setup of BGP peering?
