[j-nsp] Strange 'commit check' result: re0 fine, re1 not fine

Just created a bunch of new policies on a T640 running 8.2R1.7 for
an upcoming maintenance I'm doing, and a commit check is failing
strangely:

# commit check
re0:
configuration check succeeds
re1:
error: syntax error:
re0:
error: remote load-configuration failed on re1

We've had 'commit synchronize' under [edit system] since the box was
deployed and nothing is showing in syslog other than:

Nov 26 14:21:05 router-re0 dcd[33925]: Speed and linkmode duplex
settings are mutually required

which has been happening for a year now without any major issue. I
see nothing in re1's syslog except:

Nov 26 14:24:02 router-re1 mgd[11223]: UI_LOAD_EVENT: User 'root' is
performing a 'load update'
Nov 26 14:24:03 router-re1 mgd[11223]: UI_LOAD_EVENT: User 'root' is
performing a 'rollback'

Anyone come across this before? If so, was there an easy fix? I'm
considering just rebooting re1 since it's backup right now.

David
