Forgive me for jumping in, but since L2VPN and L3VPN are different NLRIs, during import process on receiving PE router, there should not be confusion between L3 and L2 VPNs; thus same RT for both L3 and L2 services should work just fine.

Senad

Subject: [j-nsp] RE- RT configuration for L2 VPN and L3 VPN
Hi Monika,
Each VRF needs a unique RT( Either L2 or L3 VPN
),since it imports the route based on the RT
community.
Regards,
Swamy
Should the route target be unique if a set of PEs
provide both VPLS and
L3
VPN services?
To be more elaborate,
PE(rs)-1-------------------------------------------------------PE(rs)-2
I have one L2 VPN and L3 VPN configured in PE1 and
PE2. Can I use same
route-target for L2 VPN and L3 VPN?
Regards,
Monika
