It's possible you aren't seeing many examples "out there"
because typically, most folks take care of the IGP to keep
iBGP stable.
In effect, they might prefer to run BFD only for the IGP. As
long as the IGP is stable, and working, iBGP will be happy.
That's what we do.
You might find this thinking on several network operations
lists, but, YMMV.
