Skeeve,
I can't speak to the differences in the Juniper SFP types, but I can tell you I've seen generics of all kinds work in EXs, MXs, Ms, and SRXs.
I've never had one go bad and I've never had JTAC mention the generic-ness of them when opening tickets. YMMV, however.
