Hi Isidoro,

I guess the RE is hot insert-able. You just need to be sure that the JUNOS version on both the RE should be same (if you intend to run GRES and NSR). But to be safe you should do it in a maintenance window.

The primary RE (1st) should be in slot 0 and backup RE (2nd) should be in slot 1.

After you insert the RE just synchronize the config on both the REs.

# commit synchronize    <<<<<<<command for synchronizing the config.
