No this won't work.

WAN-PHY doesn't magically turn Ethernet into Sonet/SDH, it just changes
the bit rate, and sets enough of the framing to get through most
transport equipment.

Both ends need to be the same, LAN PHY, WAN PHY, or actual SONET/SDH.
