Interesting, that looks a lot like Enhanced ATM Router module (ARM) that had to be installed to Catalyst 8540 CSRs to get IP and MPLS functionality.
I'm thinking about dc-fabric with SR by att and on.lab and how awesome it would be to scale this up to billions of flows/LSPs in carrier backbone but for that one would need a very powerful control-plane, but here we are talking about offloading CP on to a very powerful server, it all kind of clicks together.
Hopefully I'll get to enjoy such backbones for a bit before Deepmind and Watson takes over :)
