15.1R6 works great for me on MX480, which is more or less the same box. l3vpn, l2circuit, pwhe, BNG all seem to work well. No MC-LAG sorry.
What sort of trouble have you had on the switches? Are they control plane problems which would translate to the MX, or, are they forwarding?
