Under general supervision, performs work of complex difficulty designing installing, upgrading and maintaining citywide network systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Training, and Work Experience



Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in network engineering which included the design and maintenance of LANs, WANS, VLANs, QOS, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, core switching and routing, Cisco IOS, Cisco catalyst OS, RAS, VOIP; OR an equivalent combination of closely related training and work experience.



Desirable Qualifications



Sniffer Certified Expert (SCE)

Master Certified Novell Engineer (MCNE)

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)



Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certificates



Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's License at the time of appointment and maintain a satisfactory driving record.



Must obtain and maintain the following certifications within one (1) year from the date of appointment as a condition of continued employment:



Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE written)

Sniffer Certified Professional (SCP)

Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
