Juniper's SEA team has openings in our Solutions Engineering and Architectures (SEA) team.  We design, build and validate solutions that solve customer problems.  Our group picks up where the product testing teams leave off.  We integrate together products developed by different Juniper teams, and well as from complementary third parties, to show how equipment can be configured and deployed.  These solutions are documented in application notes and implementation guides, and made available to Juniper account teams and partners.
We focus on pragmatic solutions which are part of a single, consistent overall solutions architecture. Each solution is broken into achievable sub-projects which can typically be completed in 1-2 months. This work is not targeted at a single customer, but rather is useful to multiple customers within a segment.  We provide a common starting point which our direct touch, partner and professional services teams can build upon to meet the specific needs of their customers
Focus areas
Juniper's solutions team is currently focused on the following areas.  Each solution builds upon and integrates with Juniper's traditional strengths in routing and switching.

*         Content delivery:  This includes traditional "triple play, multi-screen" delivery of data, VoIP and television service; web-based video delivery; and policy management.  This effort focuses on L4-L7 services offered by service provider customers.

*         Mobility services:  This focuses on Juniper's MobileNext initiative which defines the next generation of mobile service delivery, also targeted at service provider customers.

*         Enterprise services:  This enterprise initiative focuses at supporting unified communications/services, enterprise mobility and advanced private data center capabilities.
We currently have openings in all three areas.
Responsibilities
The focus of the role is on designing end-to-end tests, configuring equipment and executing the test plan.  However, you will be involved in the complete lifecycle of the solutions development process including:

*         Work with business units, strategic marketing, product teams and sales engineers to identify targeted solutions, and translate requirements into deployable solutions.

*         Work with alliance team and field experts to incorporate third party capabilities into Juniper solutions (and, where appropriate, incorporate Juniper into strategic partner solutions).

*         Create and execute the test plans

*         Document the results in a test report and, where appropriate, create ancillary documents such as application notes which highlight important learnings.
Skills and Experience
This is a hands-on role, with a significant amount of time spent setting up and executing the test plan.  Familiarity with CLI-based configuration tools such as Juniper's Junos (or even Cisco's IOS) is critical.  The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in a test, support or hands-on consulting/services role for computer networking equipment.
Experience in the appropriate focus area is required.  This includes:

*         Content delivery:  Experience with video delivery is required.  Previous experience with CDNs, caching, video technology, triple-play or multi-screen content delivery is desirable.

*         Enterprise services:  Experience in Ethernet switching is required.  Previous experience in VoIP/multimedia services/unified communications, server virtualization and/or storage networking experience is desirable.

*         Mobility:  Experience with mobile technologies such as 2G (GSM/CDMA), 3G and 4G/LTE is required.  Previous experience/knowledge of video streaming, content optimization, IMS or Machine-to-machine (M2M), 3PPP and relevant IETF standards is desirable.
Experience in Ethernet switching, IP routing and/or MPLS is highly desirable for all roles.  Network management, operational experience or security knowledge is a plus.  The successful candidate must be able to work as a team player to ensure that this solution integrates with other capabilities and meets the needs of Juniper customers.
