NTT (2914) is looking to hire an operations engineer for our global IP network.
Position Summary:
Day to day operational, engineering design and support of the Global production network. The option to telecommute is available and candidate will not be required to relocate to Dallas, Texas.
Duties
o Physical and logical network design, configuration, engineering and management for the global network.
o Network support and troubleshooting: providing support to internal groups such as NOC, Customer Engineering, Field Engineering, Telco provisioning layer1 group in troubleshooting network problems.
o Work with vendors to resolve problems.
o Assist in testing new hardware and software products.
o Provide input and assistance to the software development group for network tools development.
o Work with GIN groups from NTT Affiliates to operate the global network in an integrated manner.
o Interact with Customer Engineering, NOC, and Telco provisioning layer1 group to provide the training and help they need from IP engineering.
o Support NOC/CE/Sales for assisting customers in terms of troubleshooting, etc.
o Perform on-call pager duty.
o Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
o In-depth knowledge and experience using BGP, ISIS, and OSPF routing protocols, as well as various software and hardware typically used in a large IP network. Knowledge and experience in MPLS, traffic engineering, as well as familiarity with theoretical underpinning of network system architecture including graph and control theory is a plus.
o Knowledge and hands-on experience in various WAN and LAN technologies such as OTN, SONET, SDH, LANPHY, WANPHY, FE through 10GE, link bundling and l2vpn are highly desirable.
o Knowledge in multicast, LDP, LACP and hsrp/vrrp and other networking protocols.
o Must be self-motivated, able to work with others as a team, have people skills, and be able to demonstrate technical leadership in a team environment.
o Knowledge of basic UNIX commands and operation. Perl, scripting and other advanced UNIX skills are a plus.
