We are seeking a resourceful and self-starting Sales Engineer (SE). The SE will:</p><ul><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Be willing to travel frequently to customer sites within North America, and to Europe for training and meetings</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Work closely with Ipanema's North American account managers and presales colleagues world-wide</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Be based in our Waltham, MA office and will report to the CTO North America</p></li></ul><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; "><b><br></b></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; "><b>Main responsibilities</b>:</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">The SE will be responsible for assessing the technical value of sales opportunities, which are initiated by the Account Managers and principals of Ipanema. Specifically, the SE must:</p><ul><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Understand and be conversant with the company, its solutions, and products</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Participate in pre- and post-sales customer meetings in person, via telephone and via Webex/LiveMeeting</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Successfully design, configure, install and manage demos and pilots</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Provide feedback to the product management team and serve as a customer advocate</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Contribute to the completion of RFIs/RFPs in coordination with the sales team</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Conduct product training for end-users and partners</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Stay abreast of competitors and their products and be able to successfully position Ipanema’s solution</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Travel as necessary to customer sites</p></li></ul><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; "><b><br></b></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; "><b>Required skills and experience</b>:</p><ul><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Background in one of (a) managed services for enterprises at a telco, ISP or MSP, (b) WAN application acceleration, or (c) enterprise network management</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Solid knowledge of WAN and LAN network design</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">In depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol family, along with underlying transport mechanisms such as DSL, MPLS, carrier Ethernet, VLANs, routing and switching</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Application behavior knowledge, including of some subset of CIFS, MAPI, Sharepoint, HTTP/SSL, VoIP, streaming video, Citrix, and SAP</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Must be able to configure, administer and troubleshoot Solaris, Linux and Windows systems</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Understanding of the 7-layer ISO protocol model</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Advanced network and application troubleshooting skills</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Strong communication (written and oral) skills</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Strong organizational skills</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Enjoys working on a team</p></li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; ">Understanding of the use and deployment of Classes of Service (CoS) is a plus, as is knowledge of WAN optimization/acceleration/shaping products</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in; "><br></p></li><li><i>CCIE certification desired, but not required</i></li></ul></div></div></body></html>
