JobDesc: Network engineer, network security lead. I currently work for
South Africa's second national operator. I was an nsp-sec member some
years ago while still working for UUNET SA. I resigned when I went to go
work for a security services company doing security assessments and pen
testing. I rejoined the life of nsp close to a year ago. My company has
been building a national network for a few years now. I've been hesitant
to join until such time as our network was completed, and we actually
had traffic volumes and I was in a position to contribute (both time and
resources). I have real access to the network, as I'm responsible for
peering as well as bgp on our core. I'm also part of the round table
assisting in setting up a national CERT in South Africa, and am also
part of a team of technical advisors to our government on Cyber
Terrorism.
