JobDesc:

My primary role is to set Security Strategy and Architecture for TELUS'
core/provider network.

I work under the CTO within the Technology and Strategy organization and
set strategy and guide architecture of the network. This input goes to
our
network design teams when new devices, architectures or procedures are
created. I also review these projects for security concerns. Despite the
'strategy' component, this is a fairly hands-on role as it is a single
security role in many respsects and encompasses almost the entire
network.

In addition I provide the architectural support for any operational
security tools that may be required by operations and provide third
level
support of incidents and tools. This includes development of our Netflow
architecture, potential information capture and analysis and logging/
data
collection.

My role is NOT directly operational (I am not front-line), however I
support the operations and can send action requests into teams for
various
security incidents. I work closely with our other nsp-sec member
(Chris.calvert at telus.com)

In addition, I do research on our network and am willing and able to
provide information to the nsp-sec community. This is something that I
have
done in the past, in my prior role when I was a member of nsp-sec and,
among other things, provided a network sensor to CYMRU on our network.

Finally, my work also involves industry and government collaboration on
security, primarily within Canada but also extending to other nations.
