Yes, thanks for pointing that out, that is the preferred method - simply
subscribe for your ASN(s) and trigger on the e-mail.  You can even send
the ASN Alert e-mails to an alias on your end that pipes directly into a
script that either does the downloading and processing itself, or just
sets a local flag to tell your other script running from cron "hey, the
data's here, have at it!".

Subscribing to the ASN Alert e-mails is easy, see the instructions on
the NSP-SEC section of our web site (so easy they haven't been updated
in a year and a half, even):
