I remember a funny incident. I used to moderate a mailing list in which flame wars weren't uncommon.

There were two or three system failures and when the administrators rebuilt then from backups they tended to recover old backups with ongoing flame wars, which of course reignited them when the just recovered mail queues were delivered to the subscribers ;)
