Each environment is different. It's not so much as wake them up, but we do
monitor during production hours. There have been times where this list has
alerted us to problems before our customers report them. With customers all
over the globe, this is one of the best tools to monitor outages outside of
our network. I think that is why some people get frustrated over reporting
outages on smaller sites.

Our NOC monitors the list as well but we wouldn't act on it or wake anyone
up or have it make a noise.

Yes, we connect to several well-known peers and actively monitor this thread
for potential service affecting issues. It allows us to keep our NOC
updated to potential issues that affect our customers in certain areas as
well as proactively route around a potential area, if needed.

I'm curious, do most subscribers alert on Outages list posts? I only get
paged by our own NMS for events on our own network. I use this list as a
secondary check. Most of the notifications aren't directly relevant to us,
and if they are it's no effort to check the "outages" folder when customers
are reporting problems which don't appear to be on our network.
