As long as Maps, Search, Mail, Android, e.t.c., keeps working, the 
majority of people who don't really care about what is being pinged will 
be fine. Bad press, if I were Google, would be an easy storm to weather, 
if it meant we can change the course of this problem.

It does matter, if what we replace it with catches on. We just have to 
deliberately do the work, or stop complaining when 8.8.8.8 "degrades" 
and our customers complain.
