Very likely a coincidence, but we started seeing some pretty erratic issues to us-east-1 and us-east-2 around 9:30am eastern time, it's gotten better but it's not fully resolved. AWS routes most traffic from MI through Chicago, so I wonder if it's related. Pretty long shot, but I've been knee deep in this for a few hours at this point and have gotten nowhere.

On Mon, Sep 19, 2022 at 7:40 PM Julian Y Koh via Outages-discussion <outages-discussion@outages.org> wrote:

Hey all,

This morning we started seeing some very weird call behavior* that we really thought was carrier-related, but our carriers (AT&T and Lumen) said that they initially didn’t have any information about an outage. Then later in the afternoon when things cleared up for us around 1:30pm Central, our account rep heard about some major network outage affecting Chicago. We haven’t been able to get anything official like a master ticket or anything, but it sounds based on what I saw included in an email thread that there was something happening starting around like 8:30am Central and some cards were replaced around the 1:30pm timeframe but that they are still working to fully restore service. Anyone got any information they can share?

Thanks!
*can provide more details if needed, but basically we were seeing inbound calls generating multiple duplicate ringing requests, our SBC and PBX were responding with nice 200 responses to accept the call, but we never got any response back from the AT&T side until a 481 that dropped the call.
