I think some of the confusion might be some
people thinking PSAP is the actual identifier of
some agency. But it's just any place that takes
911 calls. A Public Safety Answering Point) is
any entity responsible for receiving 911 calls
and dispatching them to first responders. PSAP
is an organizing principle, not an agency. But
it's a national standard. I design and build
police dispatch centers, so I work with PSAP
operations every day.</div>

completely depends on the
PSAP. When I was doing HPBX
installs on a new install I
would call 911 and would lead
with “This is a phone company
engineer” Can you verify the
address. They would verify
what they had and I would say
thank you and hang up. If
what the read to me was wrong
I still just thanked them and
hung up and would address the
issue with our E911 provider.<br>

This is what we were told to
do when we contacted the
PSAP. They told us that if
they could not accommodate
they would just say something
like “Not now” “Call back
later” and hang up. If that
happened we were to wait until
the next day and try again.</span></p>

you must check their
website for more
information handling

must have an industry

tying up the lines doing
