<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">It completely depends on the PSAP. When I was doing HPBX installs on a new install I would call 911 and would lead with “This is a phone company engineer” Can you verify the address. They would verify
what they had and I would say thank you and hang up. If what the read to me was wrong I still just thanked them and hung up and would address the issue with our E911 provider.<br>

This is what we were told to do when we contacted the PSAP. They told us that if they could not accommodate they would just say something like “Not now” “Call back later” and hang up. If that happened we were to wait until the next day and try again.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Other markets were different. This was more than 10 years ago so their rules on this may have changed.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">You can’t legally “test call” 911 cold. You have to first schedule the test with your local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) using their non-emergency number. You can find the PSAP's non-emergency number
in your local phone book or on their website. Some PSAPs may have specific times or dates when they perform test calls, so you must check their website for more information handling BEFORE calling the dispatch center. And you must have an industry need (e.g.,
phone system installer, first responder, etc) to even schedule a test call. If anyone could make a test call, everyone would be tying up the lines doing that.
