Which exactly EEPROMs ?
I suppose, that XCRP may recognize chassis ID, and chassis ID in SM240 
is different than in SE600.
But, If you copy eeprom contents from SE600 chassis into SM240... well, 
who knows.

There could be also a difference in XCRP4/SMRP2 eeproms..
