[rbak-nsp] Latest SE400/SE800 SEOS and MPLS Licence Keys

Support for the older traffic cards disappears quickly as you increase in SEOS version.

Can you provide a card list that you need to have supported?

# show chassis <cr>
# sh hardware <cr>

Hi Yury,

Thank-you for the advice.

We have confirmed the XCRP3 cards are the BASE version. We have 4 x SE800 with redundant XCRP’s, and 8 x SE400 as redundant pairs in production, so an upgrade to XCRP4’s would be an option. It would be simpler than a switch swap out :)
Is there a way to confirm the hardware versions of the line cards from the CLI?

FYI The Redbacks were originally deployed in 2006/7, and have had minimal maintenance for the last 3-4 years, and are operating with no problems :)

Regards
Vincent

Hi Vincent,

There are two versions of XCRP3 card: XCRP3-BASE and XCRP3-ADVANCED. The difference is in the amount of RAM on-board. The BASE version was discontinued earlier and the latest version you can have on it is 6.1.3 (if i remember correctly). The latest SEOS version supported by XCRP3-ADVANCED was SEOS 6.2.

If you're going to upgrade to XCRP4 then you can use any software you like (12.1.x.x is the latest branch) but only if you have PPA2-based line cards. If you have PPA1-based line cards then the last release with PPA1 support is 6.4.

If you want to upgrade line cards then the only option you have is to use PPA3-based cards (unless you find some PPA2 cards somewhere) but PPA3 cards are not compatible with SE400/800 chassis (you have to use SE600 or SE1200 chassis which supports 20Gbps per slot).

The next-gen BNG platform is SSR8000 and the latest addition to it is 8801 - 1RU router with 1/10/40/100 interfaces.

Hi,

I am new to the group.

My company has just taken over a network that has SE400/SE800’s in place. The Smart Edges are running XCRP3’s with software SEOS 5.0.
We are interested in upgrading the SEOS to the latest supported by the XCRP3’s and enabling MPLS.

We have approached Ericsson’s but hit a brick wall because they are EOL. They advise to upgrade to SE600’s – which is not an easy tasks given they are in a production environment and would be very costly.
Any advice – especially on where we can obtain the latest SEOS and MPLS licence keys would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Vincent
