Hi Jared,

Two questions:

#1

Whether I start sysmond under /etc/inittab with a line like this:

        # Run sysmond runlevel 3
        sm:3:respawn:/usr/local/bin/sysmond -d

Or if I start it at the command line WITHOUT the "-d" like this:

        [root at neo bin]# sysmond
        sysmond: 22:56:52 Starting sysmon v0.91.20+
        sysmond started on neo.jimvaughan.com
        forked process as pid 20036

I get the following on my console with every check that Sysmon performs:

[root at neo bin]# sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of
65.166.222.254
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 66.37.234.226
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.131
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 68.96.27.21
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.34
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.66
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.121
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.123
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.67
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.125
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.122
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.68
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.2
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.69
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.116
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 198.206.150.130
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.124
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.115
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.120
sysmond: 22:57:54 got a reply for ping check of 12.109.80.118

I could understand this as a "feature" of the "-d" option, but not with
starting Sysmond with no options.

This seems to have started with the latest beta .20+

#2

How can I disable ipv6 support? I use the following when running
configure:

        ./configure --enable-ipv6=no

I still receive the following error when starting sysmond:

        Feb 22 2004-22:49:34 : pingv6.c:setup_icmpv6_fd() errno=97
        Feb 22 2004-22:49:34 : pingv6.c:setsockopt returned -1, errno = 9
Feb 22 2004-22:49:34 : sysmond: INFO: hold queue set to 22500 for
icmpv6 packets
